In cooperation with our colleagues at the Greater Sudbury Chamber. Please click here for more information and to register.

Are you an exporter or importer? Do you have international supply chains? Do you engage in international trade contracts? Then you need to learn about Incoterms® 2020.

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce to bring you training on the newly released Incoterms® 2020. Updated every 10 years, Incoterms® are developed by the International Chamber of Commerce to act as a common set of rules between exporters and importers in the course of international trade in goods. Not using the appropriate Incoterms® greatly affects a company’s bottom line.

For this reason, the chamber has partnered with FITT to help Greater Sudbury’s businesses get up to speed on these new rules with a locally-hosted training session on December 6, 2019. The training course is designed to help exporters, importers, sales staff, contract experts, shipping and receiving personnel, trade finance specialists, trade compliance managers, and other supply-chain professionals gain an understanding of the latest edition of the Incoterms® rules (which come into effect on January 1, 2020).

Companies and professionals attending the session will be able to:

  • Understand how to properly incorporate Incoterms® 2020 into pro forma invoices and sales contracts
  • Identify corporate sales strategies that lower risks and costs
  • Identify the correct Incoterms® 2020 rule for specific transactions
  • Determine the obligations, risks, and costs for both sellers and buyers
  • Avoid common errors when using Incoterms® 2020
  • Use Incoterms® 2020 to the company’s advantage

About the Young Professionals

The North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce created the Young Professional Membership in order to connect with young business people in the community. We recognize that 2% of small and medium enterprise business owners are under the age of 30. We also recognize the important role that future business leaders play in the community, and would like to help you achieve your goals.

The Young Professional Membership program is an affordable way for young business-oriented people to participate in the Chamber of Commerce. YP members receive all the benefits that a regular member receives, but at a fraction of the cost. This is because we value what you have to say. We recognize that you are an important part of the business community in the North Bay Area, and we, as a Chamber, cannot be the voice of business unless we are speaking on behalf of all businesses.

If you are under 30 years of age, and would like to join the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce as a Young Professional, please complete the YP Membership Application and return by email or by fax: 705-472-8027; visit us at 205 Main Street East, North Bay; give us a call at 705-472-8480; or submit an online application. The cost of a YP membership is only $55.00 + HST.

Here’s what one of our YP members had to say:

“I was interested in getting involved with the Young Professionals because it presented me with the opportunity to grow. My main focus was to be part of an initiative to help my community at the same time as helping my generation. The Young Professionals (YP) membership allows for many students and young entrepreneurs to stay in the area because they have better access to a strong business network.

As a student, I was looking forward to using my education in the field and considering my career options when I was presented with a YP membership. I saw the value in the lower cost for me to be able to network with the organizations and businesses in North Bay on a different level than before. I was able to learn about companies that I would be interested in working with and interview them while they could interview me.

Besides finding a career, I enjoy meeting with other Professionals to learn about new companies, people, and events within the community. I feel that I have grown a great deal with much due to the YP membership.” – Darren Patey, VS Group

Congratulations!

Our Young Professional Membership Program was ranked one of the top two programs in Canada by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce at their recent AGM in Gatineau, QC! Congratulations to the Young Professional Committee, sponsors and members for all their hard work in making this program worthy of national recognition.

If you are under the age of 30, and are not a Chamber member, then it’s time to join the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals. For more information, call Patti in the Chamber office, 705.472.8480, or send her an email at patricia@nbdcc.ca
